Fuel Efficiency, Performance, and Safety are the 3 top reasons prop stop is a must for both your tool box and on-board tool kit. The patented pending prop stop design will hold your valuable, finely tuned propeller from the trailing edge of the blade.
A bent or damaged propeller blade is inefficient and de-creases your props hydrodynamic efficiency. Imagine trying to cut a piece of leather with a butter knife vs. a razor blade Get the idea? Doesn't it seem wrong to smash the leading edge of the prop blade into a block of wood?
A bent or damaged propeller blade will de-crease your engine rpm’s and cause vibration. The loss of rpm is going to affect both your cruise speed and top speed. Think about what happens when you stick your arm out of a moving car window, if you have your hand parallel with the horizon it glides through the air much easier than if you turn it perpendicular to the horizon. Makes sense right?
The Prop Stop keeps your hands away from the sharp edge of the propeller during installation and removal. When a prop blade breaks at any given rpm it becomes a weapon flying in any given direction. The Prop Stop eliminates the fatigue on the thin, fragile, leading edge and tip of your prop and transfers that pressure to the thickest part of the blade on the trailing edge closer to the hub. The advantage of holding the prop stop in your hand helps you avoid over tightening which causes more prop losses and failures than most people realize. Who Uses Prop Stop?
Slug Heffner, 711 Dirty Duck Racing "I have used the prop stop wrench and frankly I am impressed with this wrench. The Wrench is easy to use and I think it protects the integrity of high performance props. I know I have lost races because of prop failure. The ingenious prop stop wrench allows you to hold the prop from the trailing edge without putting pressure on the leading edge or tip of the propeller. Why spend thousands of dollars on propellers and fall a few dollars short of having a great tool for putting the prop on."
How it Works
The method and principle behind prop stop is very simple. The prop Stop holds the blade on the trailing edge by creating equal pressure on opposite sides between two cogs.
PS-17 is for all speedmaster, bpm, arneson, and bravo III applications (where 100 ft lb of torque is recommended)
PS-14 is recommended for all other drives requiring up to 55 ft lb torque
We recommend the anodized prop stop for use in a salt water environment.
FAQ, Helpful Hints, Facts and Figures
A brass prop nut will fatigue long before the stainless shaft you are screwing it on to. For example if you over tighten the nut, which the prop stop helps avoid, you can actually strip the threads from the insides of the nut and cause the propeller to come off under load leaving you stranded miles from shore.
By placing and enormous amount of pressure on the tip of a propeller blade the fatigue in that ear could cause failure.
